Many of us admire celebrities not just for their talent, style, or on-screen charisma, but also for the values they embody and the causes they support. In recent years, a growing number of Filipino celebrities have taken their influence a step further by embracing green energy technologies in their homes. Whether it’s installing solar panels or supporting sustainable building and living practices, these stars are proving that going green is not only smart but also inspiring. Here are several well-known personalities leading the way toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.
Doug and Chesca Kramer
In 2019, the Kramer family outfitted their multi-level home in Rizal with a 16-kilowatt-peak (kWp) grid-tie solar power system with net metering, significantly reducing their monthly electricity bill from ₱79,000 to ₱30,000.
“For us, it was the mindset of investment. Spend a few now, then as the years go by, we’ll eventually have it back,” Doug shared with GMA Network broadcast journalist Jessica Soho.
On a lot next to their home, the family also planted a garden with vegetables such as eggplants, bok choy, papaya, and squash. They use harvested rainwater to water their plants. Even at a young age, the Kramer children helped tend the garden, nourishing not only their bodies but their character.
“[The] kids are seeing the value of their labor and experiencing the beauty of gardening,” Chesca shared in an Instagram post. “To see their seeds growing, to it becoming the vegetables and fruits that go straight to our table.”

Bea Alonzo
At Bea Alonzo’s 16-hectare farm in Zambales, Beati Firma (a Latin phrase meaning “blessed farm”), the actress and her mother embrace a farm-based lifestyle while making conscious, eco-friendly decisions.
“We really promote sustainability, so Mama started a new project. She created a segregation pit for biodegradable waste and for items that can still be recycled or repurposed,” Bea shared in a mix of English and Filipino.
“We make sure the farm is truly sustainable, and we really take care of the earth and aim to leave it more beautiful than how we found it. Even in our small huts, we still have solar panels,” the actress continued.
