Coca-Cola Europacific Aboitiz Philippines (CCEAP) has moved three of its production facilities in Mindanao under the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) system to support its energy efficiency and sustainability goals.
CCEAP has selected AdventEnergy Inc.—a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corporation—as its Retail Electricity Supplier (RES) for its three Mindanao facilities. AdventEnergy serves large commercial and industrial clients across the country, offering retail electricity tailored to customer needs.
With energy supply critical to its operations, CCEAP has embraced RCOA—an energy market mechanism under the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA)—which allows qualified consumers to choose their electricity provider. The company’s plants in Misamis Oriental, Davao City, and Davao del Sur are now sourcing electricity through their chosen suppliers, with a fourth site in Zamboanga expected to follow.
CCEAP said the shift from the traditional utility market to RCOA has helped optimize operations and reduce costs by giving them access to a wider range of energy sources and competitive pricing.
“We at Coca-Cola take pride in our resolve to deliver on our sustainability commitments throughout our manufacturing sites and in the areas where we know we have significant impact,” said Frank Garcia, CCEAP Vice President for Supply Chain. “CCEAP is an active participant in the country’s energy transition. As partners in championing renewable energy, we share in AboitizPower’s goal to build an environmentally sustainable future for all.”

A smarter option
CCEAP Category Manager for Raw Materials Arline Janine Octavo highlighted the benefits of working with Retail Electricity Suppliers (RES).
“Coca-Cola entered into agreements with Retail Electricity Suppliers (RES) to ensure a reliable supply of electricity. These suppliers provide competitive rates and flexible contract terms,” she said.
“Additionally, RES offers advanced analytics and monitoring tools that enable companies to track their energy usage in real time,” Octavo added. “This presents an opportunity for us to leverage these capabilities, helping us identify areas for improvement and optimize our operations effectively.”

Pioneering change
RCOA was only launched in Mindanao in March 2024, a decade after it became operational in Luzon and Visayas. AboitizPower Vice President for Retail Energy Sales, Solutions and Services Gina David-Camacho emphasized the company’s early role in the region.
“We are proud to be among the first RES players to make an impact in Mindanao, particularly in helping meet the power requirements of an iconic brand in Coca-Cola through our customized and value-adding solutions,” she said.
